Hello, I’m Jamie Lowy, LPC

And “Dawn” is my middle name.

To me, Dawn represents a new beginning, and I am all about those. Sunrise is my favorite time of day. Sunday is my favorite day of the week. New months, new moons, new journals (I really love new journals) — I am here for all of them.

I bet you are too. Here for a fresh start, I mean.

So let me tell you a little about how I work, and how we can make your fresh start together.

What NOT to expect

Therapy with me isn’t you talking and me listening. I’m not one of those therapists who just sits back, smiles, and nods in agreement to everything you say and gives no useful feedback.

I will not present a “silver-lining” to you when you tell me something you’re struggling with. I won’t try to pull you out of the yuck. If that’s where you are, we’ll sit there together.

I won’t give you my answers as if they are the only right ones. The answers are inside you and my job is to help you bring them to the surface. It’s your answers that count.

What to expect

We will start each session by tapping into the moment and what you currently need — whether that’s space to pour out your thoughts, a chance to explore an emotion, or to get real-life advice.

I will honor your feelings before giving guidance. With your permission, I will brainstorm and  make suggestions that may gently challenge your perspective.

Above all, I’m here to hold space for you so you feel seen, heard, validated, and safe. This is a judgement-free zone.

Inhale-Exhale.png

We will dance with inhales and exhales, and check in with your body to find your truths.

Inner-Child.png

We will allow your inner child to take up space, be heard, and feel honored and supported.

Softness.png

We will bring softness, compassion, and acceptance to every part of you, even the parts you don’t like and wish weren’t there. Especially those parts.

I offer therapy in Boulder for young adults, college students and adolescents.

I help my clients navigate life transitions, explore traumas and beliefs, and figure out the best way to move forward in the present moment.

If you find yourself limited by fears, ruminating on past hurts, suppressing emotions or overreacting, crying all the time or endless scrolling on social media… I’m here for you.

And if you feel overwhelmed and anxious about a big life transition, like…

  • graduating college,

  • moving in with a partner,

  • separating from a partner,

  • entering into a new job,

  • facing serious health issues,

  • having a baby…

I’m here for you too.

I am also here to support you through deep grief work and trauma, so you can find healthy ways to process and create your new normal.

My Background

Experience

My experience is in trauma and grief work. I facilitated a suicide survivor’s support group, which involved both of those. Trying to walk in a world that will never be the same again because of loss is hard, and often there’s shame and guilt attached. Having someone who can hold space for all of your emotions and complexities helps.

Training

My training includes Internal Family Systems, which can be shortened to “what to do when your family drives you nuts and also loves you very much.” In Internal Family Systems, we look at relationship patterns and dynamics that contributed to who you are today so we can identify and change what no longer serves you.

Approach

My approach involves more than the brain, it involves the body. I use somatic tools including meditation, yoga, breathwork, cycle & seasonal awareness, and mindfulness to help you tune into your body’s compass, your inner knowing. Your body is always on your side. Bringing awareness to the body can help you find truths that help you navigate life authentically.

A Few Fun Facts About Me

  • I need sunshine, adventures and avocados to be a happy human in the world. But I also trust the darkness and the shadow side, because that’s where our growth edge lives.

  • I still struggle with control, overwhelm, perfectionism and fear of the unknown — you should see my Google calendar. It’s color-coordinated, every second of the day is accounted for, and I don’t know where I’d be without it. Literally.

  • Bikram yoga is my favorite - I love the heat and the sweat, but when I come out of the yoga studio, it looks like I just dove into the pool with all of my clothes on. It’s awkward.
